Step 1: Registration & Payment of Candidates

Before getting into the Registration process, students should be ready with their softcopies of certificates like SSLC/ 10th marks card, 12th/ 2nd Pre-University Certificate, Caste-Reservation Certificate, Study Certificate, Passport size photograph, Full Signature & Left thumb impression. Candidates need to visit the official KEA website and register first as a new user in the Admissions section click the UG-NEET2025 link and read the instructions carefully before proceeding and click the ‘Proceed to Registration for New User’ link. After successful registration, candidates need to go to the login page and enter their respective User-ID & password and fill in appropriate fields in the application form accurately & upload all academic documents. Verify whether the entered information is correct and then press the submit button. After hitting the submit button, the entered details cannot be altered hence it is advised that students should be careful while entering their details because the information entered will be cross verified with the documents that they have submitted in the KEA website. After submitting, students are allowed to choose the course that they intend to pursue & select the option – UG – Medical/Dental & Ayush (UG-NEET). At this stage, candidates need to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 2,500/- and proceed to the payment page where they can successfully make the payment using the digital transaction page and print the application form & registration slip for further references.

Step 2: Choice Filling

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) manages the choice filling process for the majority of MBBS seats under state quota (85%) for all government and private medical colleges in the state, except for deemed universities where 100% is done by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). KEA draws a merit list of the candidates with respect to their categories declared by the candidate in the application form and the choice filling link will be activated during the counselling process namely ‘Option Entry’ & ‘Modify selected options’. The seat matrix is an outlining plan of medical seat distribution across various colleges in the state and helps students in figuring out the availability of seats in their preferred colleges according to their category of reservation. Students need to Login at the KEA portal using their saved login credentials and choose their preferred course and college. At the same time, student will have the leverage to make modifications in selecting their choices like

Reorder Choices: Arrange your priority order of preferences accordingly.

Step 3: Choice Locking

After carefully considering the college and course selection, students need to double check and ensure that they have selected the right college and course in the right order according to their preferences before submitting the selected choices and finally lock them without fail under the given deadline date. Once locked, these choices cannot be altered and acts as the basis for seat selection in subsequent rounds of the counselling process. Candidates can take a print out of their list of preferred courses and colleges that would be useful for them in the NEET-UG counselling process.

Step 4: Seat Allotment Processing

Seat allotment is done based on the Merit ranking list of candidates, NEET-UG scores, seat matrix, candidates choices & the category of their reservation. The KEA analyses the locked choices of the candidate and emphasizes the seat allotment based on the NEET-UG rank, reservation category of the candidate & seat availability. The results of the seat allotment will be declared at this stage as ‘NEET Counselling Result’ in the form of seat allotment list and seat allotment letter and officially release the seat allotted to the candidates. ‘ The seat allotment letter ’ is an important document that the candidate needs to carry as it contains their detailed information regarding college admissions such as roll number, allotted category with which the candidate belongs, allotted college, quota, & selected course.

Step 5: College Reporting 

The last step in the NEET-UG counselling process is College Reporting, which involves the utilization of the seat allotment letter by the candidate at the time of reporting to the allotted college. Where he/she needs to submit this letter along with all the original academic documents (and an additional copy of attested photocopies of documents) at the time of joining and pay the annual college tuition fee that is applicable by the type of college with which the candidate has been selected.
