Document Verification Process:

1. KEA Eligibility Verification

Local Applicants (Clause A): Through the state databases the candidates academic records will be verified automatically.

Other Categories (Clause B - O/ Special Quota): The candidates must book the slot online and physically report to the KEA located in Bengaluru with original certificates.

2. Verification slip Download

Once the verification process is done, the KEA will provide a verification slip in the portal which requires a secret key essential for college selection.

3. Campus Physical Verification

After securing a seat and selecting choice 1, navigate to the allotted college in person with original documents, 2 copies of photos, and receipt of KEA Payment to confirm the final admission.

Options for applicants with no allotment: 

Can easily move to Round 2 automatically without paying any kind of registration fee.

The applicants can delete, add or re - arrange the options (MBBS/BDS) before beginning the process of Round 2.

If the applicant is not selected to Round 2, the candidate can delve into the Mop - Up and stray vacancy round.

Upgrade choices for Round 2: 

The candidates can pay the fees in upholding the Round 1 while participating in the Higher - preference college Round 2.

What happens if the candidate select “Float and Freeze”

In simple terms “Freeze” and “Float” been explained in below:

• Freeze (Accept and Lock): The candidate is 100% satisfied with the assigned seat and confirms it.

• What happens: The candidate seat will be locked, tuition fee, download the admission order, and visit the college. The exit further choice will not be granted.

• Float (Accept & Upgrade): The applicant will accept the present assigned seat as a backup, but still tries for a better preferred college in the next round.

• What happens: If the candidates get upgraded in round 2, the older seat will automatically get released and proceed to someone else, and the applicant will be assigned to a new college.

• If the student is not upgraded, the round 1 seat will be kept.

KEA NEET UG 2026 Counselling - What after Round 1?

• Round 2 Registration Dates: August 31, 2026 - September 8, 2026 (Aligned with the All India Quota/MCC schedules).

• Fresh Registration: Not accepted (Only the candidates who have registered in the initial July/August registration windows are eligible).

• Round 2 Seat Allotment Result: It is expected in the early September 2026.

Round 2 Choice Filling Option: 

• Vacant Seat Matrix: The KEA Body will release a fresh seat matrix showcasing left over seats after Round 1 (Unallotted seats, converted seats, and handover to Choice ¾ candidates).

• Modification option: Candidates can add new colleges/Courses, delete the current choices, or re - arrange the option.

• For candidates of Choice 2: The seats of candidates will automatically be locked at the bottom of the preference list as a safety backup, and the applicant can add the choice above the allotted seat.

• For Unallotted/Choice 3 Candidates: The students can re - arrange the given options for all the colleges in the seat matrix.

Mop - up/Stray Vacancy Round Timeline:

• Mid September: The KEA body will open a fresh online entry option through which the KEA will release a vacant seat intake for the Mop - Up round.

• Late September: The seat allotment for Mop - Up rounds have been published, followed by a short window to pay the fee and report to college.

• Early October: The KEA authority finalises the stray vacancy round to fill the remaining vacant seats.

MBBS Seats Allotted:

Government Medical Colleges: 3,092 seats

Private Unaided Colleges: 2,195 seats

Minority Institutions: 2,070 seats

Deemed Universities: 1,776 seats

BDS Seats Allotted:

Government Dental Colleges: 185 seats

Private Unaided Colleges: 1,850 seats

Minority Institutions: 690 seats

Deemed & Private Universities: 640 seats.

Category-wise Breakdown (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS)

General Category (GM): This category undertakes roughly 44% to 50% to total state quota seats. This category opens the door to all candidates expecting only students NEET Rank, Irrespective caste, religion, or community.

Other Backward Classes (OBC): This OBC quota account has 32% of total seats and is divided into five distinct sub - categories: Category 1 gets 4%, Category 2A receives 15%, Category 3A gets 4% and Category 3B holds 5%.
